Hey everyone,

Olle here. A lot has been going on, and honestly, and I want to share some of what is happening at Gamedev Camp.

I crafted a well-edited newsletter version on LinkedIn with pictures, links and the like button. So I am inspiring you to subscribe 💝instead of eading this blogpost.

1. Join Indie Teams

One of our top teams, led by industry veterans, is waking up from a long hibernation. They're reviving a beautiful RPG centered around Ukraine and are on the hunt for a concept artist.

Meanwhile, a new team is forming right now. It’s remote-first, led by experienced founders, and they’re building a multiplayer runner game with a cartoonish twist.

You need to buy the Community Tier to access our Discrod and join these teams or to find team members for your game. Tetiana joined the Community Tier on Aug 20 and the second indie team welcomed her as an UI artist the same day even though she didn't have a solid portfolio or extensive experience. Be like Tetiana!

2. Business Camp 2

I’ve handpicked a few teams from Creative Industries Association in Moldova/ Mediacor, Croatian PISMO incubator, and Gamedev Camp to coach them on fundraising and explain how venture capital works in games.

I've also picked the top-performing team to hand-guide their funding from my personal network (I wil follow-up on it next time). I want to pick the best team from the Cohort 2 and help them build a strategy and fundraise too.

Interested to learn more and see if Business Camp is a good fit for you? Here's a 60-seconds clip from one of the sessions for you to get a taste. But the best way to get invited to the Cohort 2 is to get the Community Tier and be active in the community.

3. New Game Trailers

Anastasia and Valeria are crafting a stunning interactive novel. Don’t just take my word for it—check out how exactly beautiful it is. Stanislav Miletskyi is rocking it with a new trailer for Solianiko.

Meanwhile, Heden Smugglers are absolutely killing it: a new trailer, a letsplay at Devcom, animation at Linoleum Contemporary Animation and Media Art Festival in Kyiv, and obviously the steam page for wishlists.

4. Games QA

Rei just got certified as a quality assurance specialist for games, and he’s kickstarting a new initiative for game testing. Anyone interested in QA should definitely follow his lead, and teams eager to share their builds are lining up.

Rea Budić was the first in line, and Tatsiana Halaburda has joined Rei to learn and make this her internship assignment. It’s all about real-world experience.

5. Accountability Group

Julia Rosioru has launched a weekly live hangout for artists to share feedback, showcase their latest creations and get a little bit less depressed. It’s a fantastic way to support and motivate each other, and I’m all for it. Much love for this initiative.

6. Games Writing Course

Ranko Trifkovic is offering 1:1 mentorship for those diving into game writing. Folks are teaming up in groups of three, which means the cost is split three ways. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.

7. Custom Game Engine Group

Legendary David Naußed is starting a group where he'd be developing a custom game engine in C++ and everyone interested can join to contribute. It will be mostly about the runtime, not the editor with the main focus being the art pipeline and rendering, then the scripting language and multiplayer. Ruta Sapokaite aims to contribute to the rendering part and to bringing in a bit of structured chaos to the process.

8. The Community

People heading to Gamescom scored some special deals. Over in #careers, folks are hiring each other, and honestly, this whole closed community concept is thriving.

The entry ticket? Just 30 EUR. It keeps our community small, cozy and joined only by motivated people who know what they want. Like you, perhaps?

9. A Special Quest by Lera

Lera and her amazing friend are working on a mobile app to help small teams enjoy working together instead of constantly feeling behind and blaming each other.

They'd love for you to take a short quiz (only 12 questions) and share your results. The quiz features the picture of them drinking iced water.

10. Finally

The version of this newsletter on LinkedIn has more links and tags community members on LinkedIn. Please follow our newsletter there as this old-school email version is mostly a friendly nudge for you to check the LinkedIn :)
